When Stoller Family Estate Winery wanted to become a “Net Positive Energy” structure, they rightfully turned to us here at Jacobs Heating and Air Conditioning for help. Being that we have been experts in Portland since 1952 with an eye on newer technologies for better ways to heat and cool buildings year-round such as self-generating solar power, we were glad to help! Jacobs HVAC turned to the Daikin VRV III-S commercial heat pump system to help meet the aggressive sustainability vision of the winery.
The Story
As the first LEED Gold-certified winery in the country, Stoller Family Estate Winery knew that they wanted their beautiful new tasting room to be as comfortable for visitors as possible while still being environmentally responsible. A tricky goal! The regional climate around the winery, while great for providing stunning views to sip your wine to, can be both very warm or very cool, with temperatures soaring up to 100 degrees during the summer months and dropping to 20 degrees in the winter. Stoller Winery wanted to create an oasis of comfort for its guests without having a negative impact on the environment. Wine is enjoyable all year round, after all, so it is an important problem to address!
We were up to the challenge and set our sights on the reliable brand of Daikin. The Daikin VRVIII-S ensures that the structure can operate at comfortable temperatures, while consuming a minimal amount of energy. The environmentally-friendly commercial heat pump system also features low starting power requirements, low sound levels, and easy integration with a fresh air economizer system to make it the perfect partner for Stoller Winery. Quiet, yet efficient. Since the entire winery operates with solar power, Daikin VRVIII-S’s attributes were integral in ensuring that the entire system could work smoothly.
Our Chief Financial Officer, Michael Desserault said it better than we could:
“Jacobs is proud to have been an integral partner in Stoller’s mission to provide a state-of-the-art tasting facility for its renowned wines with a minimal energy footprint. We look forward to more projects in the future utilizing this very promising technology”
Thanks to the expertise of Jacobs HVAC, Stoller Family Estate Winery can continue to do what they do best – produce top-tier wine and thrive as a beacon of sustainability. Check them out and enjoy great wine in a comfortable, carefully created environment that you now know is not harming the environment!
